I have been a teacher for 13 years, spending 6 years in 2nd grade and 7 years in 3rd.
I am a native of North Carolina. I grew up in the Piedmont area (or middle) of the state. Then I attended college at The University of North Carolina at Asheville and began falling in love with the area. After college I moved back home to begin teaching. I taught 2nd grade for seven years before moving back to Asheville with my husband, Taylor, then began teaching at Estes. My husband is a physical therapist in the area. In December of 2021, our first child was born, Jacob. We have enjoyed becoming parents. I took a little break from teaching to stay home with Jacob. We also love our two dogs, Tayrun (Tayroon - funny story; rottweiler) and Danger (golden retriever).
I received my Masters degree in Reading Education through East Carolina University and officially certified as a National Board teacher in 2021. I absolutely love teaching and enjoy getting to know my students and their families each year. It is important to me to create a family with my students so we all feel valued and support each other. My number one goal is to get to know what makes each of my students "tick" so I can work with their families as a team to help them grow. I look forward to working with you all this year!
